I can't believe that the new school year is almost here, and the spots for the after-school program are filling up.

Bakersfield, CA (July 31, 2024) – School is starting, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County is excited to provide after-school/out-of-school education and enrichment opportunities (Monday through Friday) for children in kindergarten to high school through 3 traditional Clubs and 68 school-based Club sites in Arvin, Bakersfield, Frazier Park, Gorman, Lamont, Kernville, McFarland, Lake Isabella, Lebec, and Tehachapi.

“We are excited to welcome our Club members after their first day of school. During the 2024-2025 school year, our team of over 700 Youth Development Professionals is committed to supporting not only the academic needs of all Kern County's youth but also their social and emotional development,” Barry Hill, Associate Executive Director, Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County, said.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County Is currently accepting online registrations or interest forms to attend the after-school program at three traditional Club sites. Online forms are available at

Providing programs in a safe and engaging environment is a top priority for the Boys & Girls Club. We partner with each community, school, and family to design a program that meets their specific needs. We draw upon the most effective academic enrichment, physical fitness, nutritional, and life skill programs to challenge children and make learning fun. All programs are staffed with trained Youth Development Professionals who will provide academic support in high-yield learning activities during non-school hours.
